However, the helmet is not only a mandatory element for traveling, but also and above all an essential component to safeguard the safety of those who get on the saddle. Even helmets, like everything else, are not all the same and do not all have the same ability to fully safeguard the garment and the life of the wearer. For this reason, the choice between the various types of helmets must respond primarily to safety criteria (dictated by the homologation standards) and only secondly to aesthetic criteria. Frequency and type of use : having a clear idea of how the helmet will be used is the first step in choosing the best accessory. If you use the bike mainly in the summer, you can opt for an open helmet ( jet or demi-jet ), or those without a chin guard on the front. If, on the other hand, you use the motorcycle for long periods throughout the year and for long journeys, it is advisable to opt for a full-face helmet. There are also modular or semi-integral helmets that are equipped with a rotatable chin guard, capable of transforming a full-face helmet into a demi-jet helmet;
Size and strap : like clothing, helmets are also divided by size and checking their fit is essential for choosing the right helmet, which guarantees safety, protection and stability. In general, it is good that the helmet does not tighten the head excessively and does not exert excessive pressure on the sides of the face. Similarly, it should not be too loose and leave free spaces between the padding and the garment. The material of which the padding is made is also important: pay attention that it is antibacterial and hypoallergenic and opt for a model with removable and washable padding. For the helmet to be comfortable, the strap must also be padded and, above all, easily adjustable;
Prices : a factor not to be underestimated, the cost of the helmet is an indicator of the quality of the product. Better to avoid excessively low prices and, in case you have a limited budget, opt for single-color models without particular colors and graphics.
